Dr. Clavicle,

What scholarship exists regarding this tribe of savages?

http://www.barbarianfc.co.uk/

It appears they are mortal enemies of the Australians, who they will engage in battle on November 26. I did not know that barbarians knew how to use calendars.

NerfHerder, I'm glad you asked this question. What you've uncovered is a rare example of what is known in anthropology as Barbarian Super-Specialization, wherein a primitive tribe develops the skills to exceed solely at some arcane task at the loss of all other abilities. Examples include rugby as you've rightly discovered, skinning rats, square dancing, etc. You would find Barbarians FC to be unpleasant company in most social situations as they are essentially illiterate, drunk, they're always diving. They are also entirely unaware that they are playing a sport; they think the pitch is an actual battlefield, which last year resulted in a tragically aborted season when they all received lifelong suspensions for Unsportsmanlike Decapitation. The fans were thrilled at that game, though of course Barbarians FC had no idea what they'd done wrong. They proceeded to barbecue the referees and eventually razed the league's head office in Wales.

It is also rare to find a tribe that is Barbarianally Self-Aware. E.g. "Conan the Barbarian" does not actually know he is a barbarian. GrĂ¼te Skullbasher thinks he is smart and sophisticated and the best-dressed man in the room. So, Barbarians FC are what we scholars refer to as Meta-Barbies.

Very interesting! Thanks for writing in!

All the best,
Dr. Byron Clavicle
